CHIC CRAVINGS: FEBRUARY EDITION

CHIC CRAVINGS: FEBRUARY EDITION

February is here, and although Phil the Groundhog saw his shadow yesterday signifying six more weeks of winter, brrrr, I'm still hopeful that all of these snow storms and "Polar Vortex" drama will come to pass soon. When it's cold and dreary outside, I like to add some pizzazz to my wardrobe, with color and some sparkle. Here are a few things that made the CHIC CRAVINGS list this month.

Turban
Statement Necklace
Celine Trapeze (a girl can dream right?)
Sweatshirt
Skirt
Trench Coat
Gray Satchel
Liquid Gold Nikes
Nail lacquer in "Cake Hole" LOL...love the name
Rain Boots
Houndstooth Coat

So tell me what chic items are you craving for February? Tag me on Instagram @chicpantry and hashtag #FebChicCraving or on Twitter to share the things that's making your heart go pitter patter this month.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK

Is it me or has it been colder than usual lately? Geez Louise this Polar Vortex thing sweeping across the nation is ANNOYING!!!  Yes I'm from NYC so I should be used to cold winters, but this is why I moved to the South. Anything below 40 degrees is a no no in my book, and ATL was 10 degrees this morning...utter madness!!

Cold weather tends to make people feel a little blah. Well I can only speak for myself, and to counteract this "blah feeling" I like to spice up my look with a little color. If you haven't already noticed;  ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK!!! It's super popular this season and you can find it anywhere from in fashion to home decor. This vibrant color is taking over and I'm a happy camper because I look good in orange LOL. At least in my opinion anyway HA!

Here are some CHIC ways to add this refreshing color to your wardrobe...

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK
1. Lipstick
2. Nail Lacquer
3. Midi Skirt
4. Boyfriend Coat
5. Pumps
6. Clutch

Now go ahead and add some Orange to your life! TGIF

BACK AT IT

Hey there CHICsters *waving*,

Did you miss me? Well for most of you that follow me on twitter and instagram you already know that I was sick that last couple of weeks which stopped all of my blogging fun :-( BUT I'm happy to say that although I'm still not 100 % I'm baaaackkk. Ready to take on the world of style, fashion, food, travel and all that other good stuff LOL.

While I've been recuperating, I took the time out to reorganize my life both personally and professionally and I have exciting news to share with you. I get tons of emails and questions about where I get alot of my stuff, especially accessories and to answer that there is no one particular place. I see something that catches my eye whether it's a pretty statement necklace, or a bold ring and I buy it...without hesitation! HAHA.  But now you will be able to shop many of the trends in clothing, vintage treasures, as well as jewelry and accessories in my new online boutique CHIC PANTRY. Yayyyyy!!! Who doesn't love cool stuff at great prices?

I gave myself a deadline to get the site launched and it's quickly approaching. I can't wait til it's up and running and as a special treat to my CHIC PANTRY friends I'm offering a special discount on your first purchase :-)

Here's a sneak peek of an item coming at the CHIC PANTRY shop...

The Crystal Spike Cuff is such a CHIC piece to add to your jewelry collection. It can be worn every day or to jazz up your look for a dressier occasion.

I'm looking forward to getting feedback from my loyal CHICsters on which items you're craving in your wardrobe right now. Ya never know...maybe it's something I can find and bring to the shop at a great price. Either way I'd love to hear your input.

Hope you all have a CHICtastic Week!

Peachy Keen

Ahhhh, this vacation was so well deserved after a busy year. The weather in Miami permits for all of those bare as you dare outfits, which you get to see alot of while walking along the strip in South Beach.  Ummm let's just say that some of those bodies are phenomenal, while others *side eye* not so much.

I've passed the age where i make all of my fashion blunders like wearing the wrong underwear, or just something thats not flattering at all. For women especially, I think it's important to know your body and highlight whatever area is the best on you.

Wore this for a lunch date and it suit the occasion and atmosphere perfectly. This acid wash crop is something I bought at a local boutique here in Atlanta earlier this year and I've worn before. I love the wash and cut of the crop, but let me just say that the zippered back can pose a problem to get in and out of without some help LOL.

Paired the crop with what some thought was a skirt, but actually they were shorts. The peach color is soooo Miami, and the lightweight fabric and flowing style was perfect to combat that humid weather.
These sandals were a pair I picked up this summer at JC Penney . The belt is Michael Kors and the built in pouch came in handy because who really wants to carry around a clutch or handbag while on vacation?

Simple outfit, easy day time attire. Don't mind the shadow of my photographer in this pic LOL, that sun was relentless that afternoon.

Don't you just love this shot? I'm so ready for my next trip *sigh*

Have a Lovely Day CHICsters,
Keep up with the blog this week for more vacation looks and Miami-Broward Carnival culture

BOOTED UP

Hola CHICsters *waves*,

Did you miss me? I sure missed you all *pinky swear*. As most of you already know, I'm fresh off a WONDERFUL 10 day vacay in sunny Miami Florida. I was there for Miami Carnival or known to some as Caribbean/American Festival which was last weekend, which is a time where all of the Caribbean islands such as Trinidad, Jamaica, U.S. Virgin Islands, Barbados, and Grenada (just to name a few) all come together to celebrate our lively culture with great music, parties or fetes (as we call it), food, and friends!!! If you have never experienced it ...IT'S A MUST!!! Later this week after I gather up all of the photos from the various events, pictures of all the beautiful costumes I will post them up here on the blog. Until then, it's back to my routine...

From swimsuits to sweaters *sighs* LOL. Although it was about 70 degrees when I came outside, I was still a little chilly because my body was already used to the warmer Miami temp :-(
Although I was slightly cranky that I had to even wear long sleeves, I was excited to pull out these boots that I got from Zara last Fall that I just adore. I love boots in general, and these had a masculine look to them, which is actually trending currently, that made me snatch them up and swipe my card immediately LOL...no hesitation!

The sweater is a Vintage DVF treasure I found while on one of my many thrift store adventures.

These shorts was actually leftovers from the 47 pairs of distressed vintage denim I sold over a 2-day period this summer... (crazy right?). Hmmm maybe I will do a few more pairs, since clearly I'm one of those people that wear shorts year round LOL. That's what tights are for right?

The chocolate suede chain-strap handbag is also a thrifted treasure found in Houston, Texas.

Here's a close look of the details on these boots...LOVE 'EM!!!!

The back of the boot has a little stretch which is great for people with larger calf muscles, like yours truly *side eye*

Well I hope you enjoyed this post CHICsters, showing another way to transition some of your summer pieces through the cooler months.

Enjoy your week
xoxo,

RAINY DAY CHIC

That moment when you wake up in the morning, stretch and as you glance outside your window you realize it's gonna be a gloomy, rainy day *sigh*. Have no fear...other than the fact that this hair does not cooperate in rainy weather, I actually like the rain. As long as it isn't cold AND raining...I'm good! An easy way to add some cheer to your rainy day morning commute is to add a pop of color to your attire. Trust me, it works!

Here are a few essentials I think is totally necessary for such occasions: a waterproof coat that is roomy enough to fit over your work outfit without having you feel all stuffy and uncomfortable. A belted one is great for accentuating a waistline. Rain boots, or Wellies as they're called in the UK are not only functional for puddle stepping, but they also come in a variety of colors and patterns from basic black to this fun bug printed pair by Tory Burch. A handbag that is large enough to carry all of your essentials in an easy to wipe off material is also great. Last but not least, the umbrella...and not some boring, half broken I just keep in my car umbrella either. Get a nice umbrella that is functional!!! I can't stress this enough. There's nothing more ridiculous than a person with an umbrella not proportioned to their body *side eye*. Like seriously though...what's the point? LOL. If you're not planning on getting drenched, at least use the right size umbrella. I prefer ones that is mostly clear for obvious reasons. Growing up in NYC and having to walk everywhere whether it's raining or not, you tend to appreciate these kind of umbrellas where people can actually see where they're going and not bumping into you because of an obstructed view HA!.
