MOR FUN FLORALS

Good Morning CHICsters,

My summer in NYC has been hectic with tons of parties, events, meetings etc...so much so that my body said "pump your brakes" the day before & I was super sick. After a few hours of rest the show went on as I attended MOR, one of the hottest caribbean events of the summer.

Yesterday was a scorcher in the city. It was one of those days where you felt like wearing less clothing but just the thought alone of the sun touching your skin is unbearable.
I chose this floral skater dress which has large scaled white flowers with bright green leaves on a baby pink background.

This dress actually has a low cut back and a high neckline, but I wouldn't be me  if I didn't alter it a bit. I'm wearing the dress backwards, LOL... Low cut in the front just takes the little summer dress up a notch.

The comfiest lace up sandals from Sole Society, paired with a simple Kate Spade watch, and vintage earrings & clutch tied the entire look together.

Total cost (sans shoes) = $19

This just goes to show why I always say, You don't have to spend a million to look like one

Stay tuned for MOR pics of MOR great outfits & MOR fun people from this event!

WHERE BROOKLYN AT?

" It was all a dream, I used to read Word Up magazine, Salt & Pepa, Heavy D up in the limousine..." ~NOTORIOUS BIG

As a proud New Yorker, born and raised in Brooklyn, I thought it was only fitting to shout out The late, Christopher Wallace, a.k.a Biggie Smalls, a.k.a The Notorious BIG on what would have been his 42nd Birthday (May 21, 1972)

Wearing this BROOKLYN tee with a vintage print pleated midi.

My oversized blue Zara tote (past season) and a simple pair of black sandals .

Simple Street Style & ode to one of my fave rappers of all time..Notorious BIG

REGULAR MOTIONS

Hola CHICsters,

How was your weekend? Mine was excellent!!! I went to a Caribbean party or "fete" as we call it on Saturday and I had so much fun. WooHoo it feels good to get out and dance and vibe with your friends and family from time to time.

Now that all of my weekend's excitement is over, it's back to my regular motions. Client appointments, shopping, blogging, researching content, and time with my kiddos. But stay tunes for next weekend when I shall be turning up again for Atlanta Caribbean Carnival ..YASSSSS!!!!

This outfit is a good look for This warmer season with these cognac colored leather look shorts.

I paired it with a vintage blouse I got while on another of my Thrift Treasure Hunts for $1.50 #score

Paired it with a chunky green statement necklace and these heels I got from ZARA a few seasons ago. These shoes was such a good buy. Although the heels  are both high and thin, the elastic band straps make them super comfortable. I'm gonna wear these bad boys forever!!!

...now let's get into this clutch!!! This is actually the very first item I ever purchased from a thrift/vintage store 6 years ago...I mean seriously though??? It's oversized, patchwork, and it has one of my fave animals on it...an elephant. I'm so here for this!

I'm kind of late with the leather shorts trend, but I'm loving the ease of them. They can be dressed up or down and will be making a repeat on the blog in the near future, HA!

Do you have a pair of "leather" shorts? How do you rock em'? Tag me on Instagram @chicpantry #CPStyle to show off your look

THIRTY SIX

Hey there Loves,

I know I haven't posted in a few days but work has me über busy (which is great for my bank account LOL). Well CHICsters, it's almost my fave time of the year ...My Bday (Whoop whoop)...and this year I feel a little different. I'm turning flippin 37!!! THIRTY SEVEN???? What? WaitaMin...when did this happen??? I swear I was like 26 last year LOL, or so it seems. I feel like although I've accomplished a lot over the years I have yet so much I want and need to do. Especially now that I fall into the "late thirties" category *side eye* . Is time running out or am I just full of anxiety? I don't know but either way I'm looking forward to 37 and all the great things it has to offer.

...and in the meantime let me get a few last wears out of my THIRTY SIX top ;-)

APRIL

Hello CHICsters,

Can you believe April has come and gone so quickly? I was so busy this month it just seemed to fly by. This post features all of my APRIL looks & fashion inspiration. Which one was your fave?

These looks went from casual, to boho chic, to ladylike, to retro and everywhere in between LOL. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason behind my style other than I wear what works depending on how I feel, & clearly from the looks of it my inspiration is all over the place :-)

Stay tuned for more fashion inspiration in May, including details on my 1 Year Blogiversary Giveaway!!! You all will not want to miss this one.

SI SEƑORITA

Hello My Loves,

This dress makes me so happy. It reminds me of old Spanish movies my sister and I watched as a kid, where all of the women were over-the-top sexy & all of the men were dying for their attention. I know...I know, it's not the typical "kid shows" but hey we turned out okay...I guess LOL.

You're not ready for my salsa moves...

I love everything about this vintage dress; the bold floral print, the shoulder-padded sleeves, the body conscious silhouette, & let's not overlook the flirty mermaid style bottom in a midi skirt length... #WINNING

...oh yea...that low cut back though...

Paired it with these fuchsia strappy sandals to tie together the entire look.

A well spent $4 at the Thrift Store huh? ...Si SeƱorita!!!

"LADYLIKE"

Hey Dolls,

Sooooo I've been wearing a lot of pants lately & I've gotten a few suggestions via Twitter and email on styling more skirts. You ask for it, you got it!

I feel a Lil' 1950'sish (I know that's not a real word) today. Wearing a blouse that I tied up in the front with this pretty striped Midi skirt.

To add a little edge to it, because that's how I roll LOL, I paired it with these black/gold studded sandals, & this complimentary fringe clutch.

The BEST thing about this look is that it only cost me under $40 (excluding the clutch).

Top & Skirt (Thrifted for $3), Sunglasses (99 cents on super sale at Charlotte Russe), and Studded Sandals ($34 Charlotte Russe, Clutch (Chic Pantry Boutique)

Here's my "Ladylike" look that clearly was well within the budget. Don't underestimate your local thrift stores folks, you never know what treasures you will find.

Ok Jack Frost we get it!!! I'm so over this bipolar cold weather. This weekend was in the 60's today it's back to 40. I'm ready for flowing dresses, light & airy pants, and crop tops.

I've been eating clean and working out (does happy dance)

*excuse that annoying string in the back*
